Saving resources through recycling - EWABO and environmental protection

As part of its annual study “resources SAVED by recycling”, the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT explores to what extent the recycling efforts of the ALBA Group are easing pressure on the environment. It has found that in 2016 alone, companies in the ALBA Group — including Interseroh — saved around 36.2 million tonnes of primary raw materials in Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovenia by recycling almost 4.3 million tonnes of reusable waste. At the same time, greenhouse gases were reduced by almost 4.3 million tonnes.

As a customer of the waste disposal contractor Interseroh, EWABO also made an important contribution last year towards the overall saving of primary resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

According to calculations made by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology (UMSICHT), the specific environmental contribution by EWABO amounts to almost 91 tonnes of resources and additionally almost 18 tonnes of greenhouse gases saved as a result of recycling the types of materials registered (PE / PP / mixed plastics, lightweight packaging and wood).

This means that EWABO is once again making a significant contribution towards environmental and climate protection — derived from its own self-image with its emphasis on protecting the environment and resources.
